Collaborative Strategic Planning and Data Mining Collection
In order to fully appreciate the power of Infoseer in terms of collaborative strategic planning initiatives,
let us walk you through on some few features to accomplish that. Let's assume that your Sales and Marketing
found some information on the web that might be a good agenda on the next management meeting on competitors.
Add the geographic complexities of you (The Strategic Planning Analyst) are located in Texas and your Sales
and Marketing Team is in New York. Using Infoseer, you can find your IP Address by clicking on "Tools"
from the menu bar options then "View IP Address". This will show your IP Address, a 4 number sets separated by
a dot such as, "12.123.12.123". Please write this number down since you will give this number to your sales
in New York also running Infoseer so he/she can connect to your Infoseer.

For now, click the left arrow to "Focus Partition - Hide the Information Management Partition (Web Browser)",
and only the Infoseer database tree and the tools partion "Process Management Partition (Tools, Browse, Edit,
Profile). Take a look at the image below, your Infoseer database tree is on the left and you are in a browse
mode actually showing all the records for the "bookmarks" table. Please pay attention to the "Infoseer
Database Server", tell your sales in New York to enter your IP Address "12.123.12.123" in the "Host Field"
or replace the "localhost" with "12.123.12.123", then tell them to click "Connect". If Infoseer did not
encounter any network error. Your sales and marketing in New York should be connected to your Infoseer
database.

First, make sure that you select the category for this data, it means that "Is this data for Corporate or
Marketing?". Make this selection on the right frame, this always default to Corporate category
- Highlight any text area you find relevant to your research by pointing you mouse arrow at the
starting word, hold it down (drag) until you reach the end of the sentence or paragraph.
- Once highlighted, right-click your mouse and you will be presented with a menu box -> Select Heading
-> Select Content ->Save Record(s) -> Clear Area. Choose "Select Heading".
- Next, highlight the designated content for this header, right-click then choose "Selected Content".
Please note that Infoseer keeps track on multiple heading/content and will warn you if you have more
heading than content. This should match, besides, you don't want heading without any content anyway.
- Finally, right-click the choose "Save Record(s)" and all heading/content you have selected will all
saved into the database.
You can do the same thing in Texas and they can do the same in New York and all information intelligence
results will be saved in your database.
Or, your main remote database server located elsewhere in your corporate headquarters. Which means that you
and the sales i New York enter the same remote IP Address of your Corporate Office's Information Intelligence
Database Repository.

And finally, both of you working on two difference geographic location can simultaneously process (export)
the shared data by right-clicking your mouse inside the view data diagram window and from there
you can export your data into XML or plain text or simply print them. Please note that the diagram is
neatly arrange by records. To further view the data, just click inside on either right or bottom sides
and the screen will go into automatic scroll mode allowing you a much wider view of your data.
